Your Kids first tiny step into School

The first school or the preschool for the kid is the most special experience the toddler learns to cope up with during early childhood. Her interest in Education will also depend on what children learn during those first six years of her schooling. A sudden change in kids routine, habits and emotions. Being a mother of a 31/2 year old, I remember how she used to control her feelings, not wanting to accept her how she finds it difficult to be dropped into school in the early hours of the day. The days of the week when she has to be forcibly removed from her father's side, slowly ,and to be made to have her bath, and made to speed up the process of her bathing and dressing. I still remember the very tone of rushing into school made her sad and tears gushing down those very tiny eyes half closed.

As parents it is our primary duty to make sure our kids are comfortable with schooling. It is not essential to be a perfect parent to be a complete parent. Especially the mother. We have to make sure that schooling be made best for our children. As parents I feel that we have to be complete parents to express our gratitude towards our kids who have designated us as parents, they definitely deserve this for having given us this opportunity of being their parents.

The tendency among parents in the UK and the USA is to focus on children’s acquisition of academic skills from an early age in order to give them a head start. Here academic skills mean reading, writing, and arithmetic A significantly higher percentage of fathers than mothers consider academic skills to be the most important whereas a noticeably higher percentage of mothers than fathers consider skills such as communication, curiosity, and problem solving to be the most important for their children before entering school.Parents of lower income group undergo more stress than the higher income group.

Is there a stress to prepare children for school?

Yes, Definitely, Income and social parameters seem to influence stress in connection with

preparing a child for school issues. Apparently preparing boys to go to school is slightly more stressful than preparing the girls. If the mother is working, the family will be more likely to experience a certain level of stress in preparing the little one for school than the families where the mother is not working.

Stress can affect anyone who feels overwhelmed — even kids. In preschoolers, separation from parents can cause anxiety. As kids get older, academic and social pressures (getting accommodated) create stress.

Discussion of matters of finance, illness or relationships when kids are near should be thought over. World news can cause stress. Kids who see disturbing images on TV or hear talk of natural disasters, war, and terrorism during early childhood may worry about their own safety and that of the people they love. Talk to your kids about what they see and hear, and monitor what they watch on TV so that you can help them understand what's going on.

Ten Tips to stabilize first steps of Schooling for our children

1. Listen to your child . One of the most common mistakes parents make is ignoring their child's complaints, especially if you are not consciously aware of doing so. Listen to what is not being said . There are just some kids that would rather not talk, or would go around the subject in a very roundabout way. If such is the case with your children, then it would be best to observe his or her reactions or mannerisms. Check with his peers.

1. Learn about the school its routine, activities, teacher student relationships, their promises and goals attained and targeted. This can be done maximum from the school scheduler if you could get one and some from the other kids who are into the same school.

1. See that your children are mentally prepared for schooling ie. Talk to him about the exciting things he can find in school especially something new like his friends, learning and playing in large groups. Eating with his peers. The fun activities in school.

1. Also be aware of the factors of death, illness, divorce .These may result in a mental trauma and can cause reluctance in attending school. Talking and understanding the child’s mind may reduce stressful situations.

5. Stay cool and patient while preparing your children for school, bear up with the initial resistance and stay calm. Try your maximum to convince your kids in the smoother way.

6. Don’t show that you’re tensed about the hectic morning routine of preparing your children to school.

7. Please have the listening attitude even after the kids return back after school, this becomes difficult for working parents, but make sure you allot some time for it, at least while you have your breakfast or dinner or sometime after dinner. This proves your sense of concern for the children and instills interest in their daily activities.

8. Avoid discussing your problems and areas of stress before kids to the maximum.

9. Do not force them or threaten children with the idea of going to school to make them perform a particular task, this makes them get an aversion to schooling.

10. Have a constant feedback from their teachers, peers and parents about their school, about them and their daily activities. Try to attend all meetings arranged by the school.

I believe that the more joy, confidence, and initiative we feed into children and with our continued guidance and support children begin to enjoy schooling to the maximum and school becomes a better place, and as always promised a second home.
